A Day at the Beach

We are two months into summer and we only just this past weekend made it to the beach. Although beach time is not nearly as relaxing as it used to be, I wish we had gone sooner. Instead of making things easier on ourselves and just driving to a local beach 10 minutes away we decided to drive for an hour to Sorrento, which is to the south east of Melbourne. Our friends Molly and T.H. came with us and the day couldn’t have been more beautiful or perfect.

Jack even got his first taste of sushi (fresh seaweed). The only negative was a baby that decided he didn’t need to sleep, at all. I guess the beach was just too exciting.

Happy Christmas Eve!

I’m trying to adopt Aussie traditions and phrases so it’s Happy Christmas, not Merry Christmas. I’m also trying to find some holiday spirit, but it’s kind of hard when the weather is so beautiful and the streets and stores are not dripping with holiday tat. Don’t get me wrong, I love Christmas time. Mulled wine, roaring fires, snowy nights, Christmas cookies :o) I just haven’t got used to celebrating the holidays in a warm weather climate and I keep forgetting that tomorrow is the big day! I’m sure next year when we have a 1.5 years old running around I will find my holiday cheer, but for now, look what I’m dealing with.

Sunny skies and 85 degrees at the beach in St. Kilda.

Santa and his reindeer flying by a palm tree.

My morning coffee at the table in our beautiful backyard. Now that I think of it, I could get used to this.

One of the Aussie traditions that we decided to adopt is leaving a glass of beer for Santa and a carrot for his reindeer. I really think Santa will appreciate this offering much more than a warm glass of milk and a plate of cookies.

Happy (Merry) Christmas!

A few more firsts.

So, what did y’all think of our TV debut? Did we look like total geeks or professionals? I’m asking simply because we still have not seen the show. We don’t get HHI over here, Hulu doesn’t have the show listed and we can’t seem to find it online anywhere. Very frustrating. Anyhow, we are expecting a DVD from the production company to arrive in the mail any day now so hopefully it won’t be long before we can see it. But, I’m curious to know what you thought.

On to more interesting subjects. Little man Jack continues to rock our world. He is really such an awesome baby. He is incredibly happy and content and seems to deal with life’s ups and downs incredibly well (more on that later). Some of his new tricks are eating solid food, throwing balls, playing peek-a-boo, holding his own bottle, caressing his momma’s face and batting his eye lashes at strangers, just to name a few. I’ve captured some more of his first on film and thought I would share them with you. Enjoy!
