Dubai: Singapore meets Vegas.
We arrived, checked in, and wandered. When people use the adjective ‘booming’ while describing Dubai, I will forever roll my eyes. The city is currently employing 90% of the world’s building cranes. They work 24/7 and there is currently 5,000 building going up. The most impressive is the Burj Dubai. When completed it will be 40+ stories taller than the current tallest building in the world. It is absolutely scary.
Dubai is a cross between a small Arab town and a new beach and shopping resort. It will soon dwarf Vegas in terms of high end hotels. We has drinks with friends at the Burj al Arab, the only 7 star hotel in the world. One word – OVERATED!
After meeting our friends for drinks, they convinced us to come down to Abu Dhabi.
We will provide more detail on Abu Dhabi and our adventures in S. Africa and Swaziland. But for now, it off to see some lions, tigers, and bears.
… more to come very soon.
All the best from Swaziland.
